Gary Schuster, Senior Counsel at Jacobowitz & Gubits, LLP, of Walden, New York, has been re-elected to the Board of Directors of NYCON, the New York Council of Nonprofits. Initially elected for one year to fill out the term of another director, Schuster has now been elected to a full three-year term.
As a member of the Business Team at Jacobowitz & Gubits, Schuster has represented numerous nonprofits in formation, mergers and dissolution, obtaining recognition as tax exempt, real property acquisitions, and a wide range of governance and operational matters. He is a founding board member and past president of the Orange County Arts Council, a founding board member of ReThink Local, and a member of the Sullivan County Nonprofit Leadership Summit Steering Committee. He also volunteers for Charity Corps, a program of the State Attorney General that provides pro bono services to nonprofits.
NYCON, based in Albany, is “the Soapbox and Tool Box for New York State´s Nonprofits.” NYCON works to build the capacity of over 3,000 nonprofit members to enhance the quality of life in communities throughout New York State.
