Law firm has raised more than $4,200 since March, participating in upcoming O+ Festival

Walden, N.Y. (June 12, 2014) – Jacobowitz & Gubits is proud to be a part of the fabric of the Hudson Valley and shows it through participation in many nonprofit campaigns. In recent campaigns, Jacobowitz & Gubits helped support the American Heart Association, Amore House, Inc., Hudson Valley SPCA, Hudson Highlands Nature Museum and Hudson Valley Honor Flight.

Since March, Jacobowitz & Gubits has raised more than $4,200 for Hudson Valley nonprofit organizations, including $2,572 in May for the local chapter of the American Heart Association with the annual Tri-County Heart Walk held at Harriman State Park in Stony Point, N.Y. Throughout the campaign, the firm hosted a variety of employee fundraising programs, including dress down days in connection with Wear Red Day, holiday bake sales and a trivia fundraiser, to drive gifting.

Larry Wolinsky, managing partner at Jacobowitz & Gubits, said, “We are a great supporter of the American Heart Association, among many other nonprofit organizations here in the Hudson Valley. We enjoy participating in their events and are proud to have had another successful fundraising campaign in fighting for the cause.”

On Sunday, June 29, Jacobowitz & Gubits will continue its mission to help nonprofits across the region by guest bartending at the O+ Festival, which will feature live music, art on display and other activities. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., attorneys and staff will be back behind the bar at the Newburgh Brewing Company, with all tips going toward the nonprofit.

In March, the firm raised $525 for the Hudson Valley SPCA, which suffered a tragic loss in March when a fire ripped through one of its kennels, causing the death of two dogs and major damage to its New Windsor-based home. The funds will go toward veterinary bills for five pups severely injured in the incident and reconstruction costs of the facility.

In April, firm employees raised $275 for the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum for its Hike-a-Thon in Cornwall. Jacobowitz & Gubits made an additional $500 donation toward the event, which featured hikes and activities for children of all ages and helped raise awareness of Earth Day. Additionally, the firm recently held dress-down days and raffles for Hudson Valley Honor Flight, which yielded $150, and Amore House, Inc., which yielded $226 in donations.

Wolinsky added: “Jacobowitz & Gubits is very active in the community. Sponsoring and participating in events that benefit nonprofit organizations has a residual effect that reverberates through the region and benefits us all.”
