INTRODUCTION TO MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT SERIES:
J&G Law, LLP, is a full-service law firm. Our team of experienced attorneys offer legal services in an expansive set of practice areas. One of our growing practice areas is personal injury law. Attorney Andrew L. Boughrum has more than a decade of experience representing clients who have been seriously injured by the negligence of others and has obtained millions of dollars in settlements and awards for his clients. J&G Law, LLP has asked Mr. Boughrum to present an informational series on a motor vehicle accident case which will begin with the following introduction outlining the scope of the series and the topics to be covered in this 5-Part series.
If you have been injured in a car crash due to another motorist’s negligence, you may have many questions about your rights:
- WHO to contact,
- WHAT to do,
- WHERE to go,
- WHEN to act,
- WHY you should contact an attorney,
- and HOW to select an attorney that is right for you.
Most experienced personal injury attorneys work on a contingency fee basis . This means that the lawyer will handle the upfronts cost of the personal injury case and you will never have to pay anything out of your own pocket. Your attorney will only be compensated if he or she is successful in recovering a settlement or award in your favor. The attorney’s contingency fee is a percentage of the recovery, typically one-third (1/3) of the total recovery. The contingency fee agreement ensures that your attorney’s interests are always aligned with your interests. You and your attorney will always seek the best possible result under all the facts and circumstances of your injury case. Therefore, it is extremely beneficial to hire an attorney at the outset of an injury case to avoid some of the common T.R.A.P.S. which can derail a personal injury case. By hiring an attorney immediately after the accident, you will gain all the benefits of the attorney’s experience and expertise at zero cost to you.
You may have many questions about how a personal injury case is started, what the progression of a personal injury case looks like, how long it will be before you receive compensation, why some cases settle quickly while others take more time. In this 5-Part series, I will provide answers to many of the most asked questions. I will provide guidance and insight on the progression of a personal injury case and what happens when a case does not settle, and a lawsuit must be filed. This series will be broken into the following Parts, each covering an important topic, and providing guidance and information for each step along the path of a successful personal injury matter:
- So, You Have Been in a Car Accident, Now What?
- The Investigation.
- The Decision: To Settle or Sue?
- Commencing a Personal Injury Lawsuit.
- Depositions, Experts, and Motion Practice.
I invite you to follow along with me each week as we explore and discuss these important topics. If you would like to hear more about a particular topic or have questions you would like answered, please let me know by emailing me. At the end of the series, I will present a webinar to address additional topics related to motor vehicle personal injury cases, answer the submitted questions, and conduct a Q&A session for those in attendance. Please make sure to like and follow J&G Law, LLP on your favorite social media platforms to ensure you receive timely notification when each Part of this series is released and information to register for the webinar on April 26, 2023.
